Frequently Asked Questions

How do you clean my home? Do you just blast away with high pressure or do you get on a ladder and scrub it with a brush?

The answer is neither. We use a process of low pressure application of cleaning solutions with a dwell time to allow them to work followed with a thorough, but low pressure rinse. We do most cleaning from the ground and seldom need a ladder. The special cleaning solution injector we use allows us to clean as high as thirty-five feet with our standard 36” lance and even higher when attached to one of our longer lances. Occasionally, we may have to touch up a spot with a brush, but high pressure is not needed to clean most surfaces. In fact, high pressure can damage most surfaces. Our washing occurs at pressures in the several hundred psi range instead of the several thousand psi range that most people think is necessary to clean a home. Still fearful of our process? We can even clean your home with little more than our special cleaning solutions and a garden hose in a lot of cases.

What do you use to wash my house?

We use proprietary blends of several different detergents each suited specifically for the task at hand. We carry onboard our trailer super concentrated house cleaning solutions. This gives us the flexibility to adjust our mixture to the strength needed for the conditions we find in the field.

Do you use regular bleach and water to clean homes?

We actually use 12½ % sodium hypochlorite (SH) as one of the ingredients in our cleaning solution.  While bleach is not the correct term for this ingredient it will suffice to call it bleach for this information. Bleach will kill mold and mildew, but bleach actually has no real cleaning power on its own. To clean the dirt and grime from your home you need the detergents and surfactants we use in our cleaning solution. Most of the ingredients we use in our cleaning solutions are contractor strength and only available though specific suppliers that cater to the power washing industry. Simply put, you cannot match the power of the products we use by going to the grocery store or any of the big box stores and buying consumer grade Clorox bleach (3~6% SH) or other household cleaning products.

I see solutions at places like Wal-Mart ,Lowes and Home Depot for cleaning houses. Why can’t I just use these and clean the house myself?

As a professional contractor we use professional grade ingredients in our cleaning solutions. The box store, consumer grade products usually result in consumer grade results. I actually calculated once that to buy enough of these products to clean an average sized house that it would cost more in materials than it would cost to have us come and perform our service for you.

What about the cleaning solutions that you use…will they harm my plants?

Most plants are resistant to the cleaning solutions we use, however, some plants may be more sensitive than others. We use every precaution to take care of all landscaping and grass around the home to be cleaned. First, if it is a small potted plant it may need to be moved out of the way. In some cases we may need to cover your plants with tarps. We wet down all other plant life and grass before applying our cleaning solution to the house. After the cleaning solutions are applied to the house we rinse off any overspray from all plants and grass in the area while the cleaning solutions are soaking away the grime. Then after the home has had a thorough rinsing we rinse off all plants and grass in the area yet another time.

How much do you charge to clean my house?

The way we calculate the cost for cleaning a home is by measuring the actual lineal footage of the home’s exterior per floor. The cost typically runs around $0.85 per lineal foot to $1.25 per lineal foot per floor. While accurately measuring the actual length of each side of the home, we note whether it is one, two, or three stories. Dormers on a home are calculated at a set price according to whether they are considered small (mostly decorative) or large (functional inside floor space).

Some other factors that may affect the way we calculate the cost of cleaning would be rough terrain or access to the house such as such as steep hill sides, fences, and narrow alleyways between homes, dogs and the amount of land mines they leave for us to step in and pull our hoses through. Also we look at the amount of dirt and mold on the home and whether a ladder will be needed to access certain areas to be cleaned. Lastly, we look to see if there will be an excessive number of plants, toys, or patio furniture etc. left for us to move. These are just some examples that may be calculated in our price and why we can’t give an exact quote over the phone. Once we have formulated our price and offered a quote to our client that is the price we honor. The only exception would be if any of our additional services are requested by the owner.

What are those black specks are on the side of my house and why they didn’t wash off when the house was cleaned?

Those spots are Artillery or sometimes called Shotgun Fungus and will not wash off.
